Both Premier League sides, as well as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, have kept a close eye on the teenager since he broke into the Bologna first team last season.
But now, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, it is fellow Serie A side Napoli who are ready to make the first approach to Diawara’s employers.
And it has been reported that Napoli reckon the offer of two players in exchange for the 18-year-old midfielder might tempt them into selling this summer.
Napoli, fronted by free-scoring striker Gonzalo Higuain, finished second in the table last season but they appear ready to shake up their squad as they attempt to go one better next term.
One of those who could leave is striker Manolo Gabbiadini, who started just four league games last term, and is a target for Bologna.
So the offer of a swap deal including Gabbiadini – and his Napoli team-mate Mirko Valdifiori – could be lodged in a bid to prise Diawara away from the Stadio Rento Dall’Ara.
